| ABOUT JIM |
|
Jim Gray has spent his career working to bring jobs and better government to Lexington. In 2006, Jim was elected Vice-Mayor of Lexington. He serves on the Budget and Finance, Planning, and Intergovernmental committees. Throughout his tenure on the Council, he has fought to eliminate waste and crack down on the culture of corruption at City Hall. Before his time on the Council, Jim filled a number of civic positions. He chaired the Governor’s Commission on Quality and Efficiency, which audited Kentucky’s executive branch and produced recommendations for eliminating almost $1 billion in wasteful spending. He also chaired the fundraising campaign to raise $22 million for the Kentucky History Center in Frankfort. Currently, Jim serves as a trustee on a number of boards, including those of Berea College and the KET Fund for Excellence. Jim came to public service after spending 36 years creating jobs and economic growth in the private sector. In 2002, he became President and Chief Executive Officer of the family firm, Gray Construction. Headquartered in Lexington, Gray is a nationally ranked engineering, design and construction company. While the company has offices and projects coast to coast, it still remains a family-owned and operated business.
